Se tornassi a vivere - If I were to live again

A few days ago, someone asked me if, given the chance to be reborn, I would live my life differently. I said no, but then I thought about it and…
If I could live my life again, I would have talked less and listened more.
I wouldn’t have given up inviting my friends for dinner just because my carpet was dirty or the couch cover discolored.
I would have eaten crumbly sandwiches on the couch and worried less about the ashes from the warm fireplace.
I would have found the time to listen to my grandfather when he talked about his youth.
I would have never pretended, on a summer day, to keep the windows of the car closed just because I had just been to the hairdresser.
I would never have left that rose shaped candle to melt away alone in the storage room: I would have melted it myself, by switching it on many times!
I would have laid on the lawn with my kids, without worrying about grass stains on the clothes.
I would have cried and laughed more not in front of a TV, but watching REAL life.
I would have shared more responsibilities with my husband.
I would have stayed in bed when sick, instead of rushing to the office thinking that the world would stop without me there.
Instead of wishing for those 9 months of pregnancy to finish, I would have enjoyed every second of it, knowing that the beautiful thing growing inside me was my only chance of collaboration with God in making a miracle happen.
I wouldn’t have dismissed my son who was kissing me by telling him “c’mon stop it…wash your hands that dinner is ready”
I would have said more often "I love you" and less often "I am sorry"…
But most importantly, if I could start all over again, I would catch every minute of my life, watch it till I can truly see it…I would LIVE it, and won’t give it back…

don't worry...I have no weird intentions. I am tired, yes, and overly stressed, I admit it...but this post is just my reply to an e-mail containing this message: instead of sending it to 5 more people I decided to share it with those 4-5 readers which periodically come back to my blog. the message was in Italian, so as usual I translated it myself. Apologies for mistakes and typos...and if you have a better english version, please share it, ok?
