Come un Romanzo

Daniel Pennac e' un autore spassosissimo...non so quanto popolare sia nei paesi anglofoni, ma gli Italiani se lo possono gustare nelle pubblicazioni della Feltrinelli. Magari vi piacciono di piu' i racconti buffi surreali e struggenti del Ciclo Malaussène, ma vi assicuro che questo saggio merita davvero. Che siate genitori, insegnanti, amanti, single, bambini, adolescenti, "adulti"...racconta la lettura dal punto di vista dei lettori.
E da bravo guru (e' professore di Letteratura, il signor Pennac, mica noccioline!) vi da pure i dieci "comandamenti"...ops, pardon, DIRITTI del LETTORE.

I dieci diritti inalienabili del lettore

1. IL diritto di non leggere (e perche' no?)
   
2. Il diritto di saltare le pagine
   
3. Il diritto di non finire il libro (forse questo dovrei esercitarlo di piu')
   
4. Il diritto di rileggere (ohyes...soprattutto i propri favoriti)
   
5. IL diritto di leggere qualsiasi cosa (anche le porcherie)
   
6. Il diritto al bovarismo (una malattia testualmente-trasmessa)
   
7. Il diritto di leggere ovunque
   
8. Il diritto di spizzicare
   
9. Il diritto di leggere a voce alta (lo sapreste riconoscere, il suono della vostra voce?)

uno dei piaceri della vita e' farsi leggere un libro a voce alta...vi rivordate quado eravate piccini, e la mamma vi leggeva la solita storia, che ormai sapevate a memoria? quanto bello era? Lo sara' sempre! E allora, fate felice un bimbo che si nasconde nell'adulto che avete davanti: leggetegli un libro!





Daniel Pennac is a fantastic author...I don't know if he is very popular in english-speaking countries...but Italy is LUCKY...we like him a lot (at least I do!). He might be more famous for his surreal, funny and heart-sqeezing novels of the Malaussène cycle, but please have a look at this book (I hope it's translated "The rights of the reader in english...but I am not so sure! original title: Comme un roman...did I mention he writes in french? Anyway... good luck in tracking it down). It's an essay, and it's about reading...reading, from the point of view of the readers. It doesn't matter if you are a parent, a teacher, a lover or single...it applies to all of us.
Daniel Pennac is a great writer (he also teaches french literature...so he knows his stuff, and his pupils!) and as a true reading-guru he'll give you the 10 commandments (ops...pardon...rights) of the reader.

The 10 inalienable rights of the reader

1. The right of NOT reading (GREAT first right, isn't it?)
   
2. The right to skip pages (we all did it...he admits it too)
   
3. The right to leave a book unfinished (I might need to enforce this one a bit more)
   
4. The right to re-read (ohyes...especially the all-time favourites!!)
   
5. The right to read anthing (yup...ads, crappy novels...anything)
   
6. The right to bovarism (a textually-transmitted disease)
   
7. The right to read anywhere (maybe not while you are driving...or cycling)
   
8. The right to nibble (mhmm...great to get those literary taste-buds going!)
   
9. The right to read out loud (It works even with scientific articles and a lazy boss...or I like to think so...)
   
10. The right to remain silent
    

One of the greatest pleasures in life is to have a good book read out loud to you...do you remember when your mum used to read THE SAME story over and over to you? didn't you like that? How nice was that? Let me tell you: it's ALWAYS nice...so, make that child, the one hidden in the adult in front of you, happy: read out to that child!
