Agnes&Gerard

Collo a fascetta, svasato, cortissimo.

Gerard and Agnes are my last two creations. They are two UNICEF rag dolls (Pigotta in some of the dialects spoken in Lombardy), and they are a wedding present for a very special and unique dutch woman and a dutch guy who...well, he MUST be special and unique, since he has been chosen by said woman...heheh!

I did think about a coffee set for 12 people...meaning 12 espresso cups...'cause every italian wedding to be PROPER must count (NOT in the wedding list, but on top of that) at least 3 unwanted coffee sets. MFJ and I are proud (!!) to say that we have 3 coffee sets of 6 cups each, plus another 3 which we may call "his&hers". never used...or maybe I should say not yet used: I could always host a coffee party to show them ALL. To avoid the useless and painful via crucis of shopping for a present, I decided for a DIY approach. So there they are: a couple of dolls, themed after the 60s flower children.
Agnes is a blondie with pink flower in her hair, SHORT dress and high boots. the dress has multicolor dots on an orange background and a high neck. the boots are green with large colorful bottons matching her bracelet. And Yes, you naughty people: she has LARGE white underwear...'cause the first thing everyone does with a doll wearing a dress is pull it up...I still haven't figured out why. Agnes eyes are blue, and she wears pink lipstick.
Gerard fashions a long brown mane, mustaches musketeers-style and orange hairband. White large V-neck shirt, trousers (with colours matching Agnes' dress), bare feet and purple guitar.
I SO wanted to make a banner saying "Make love don't make war" ...but damn it! I run out of time...
It goes without saying that it was a team effort, with MFJ designing the guitar and cutting its wooden stick (hidden inside, for support) and MFSJ holding my hand during those long hours spent in front of the sewing machine (it's a miracle I finished on time). MFSJ was so enthusiastic about helping...and quite sad when she saw that none of those dolls were actually for her. she did smile again once I promised her to make a special doll for her, so now I only have to find the right fabrics.
The adoption fees have been sent to UNICEF...hoping that two children will get all that tehy deserve for a healthy start in life.
