Lavori in Corso

E penso proprio che sia ora di un aggiornamento! Dopo i primi fallimenti e successi nel campo del giardinaggio, ci siamo dati alle pulizie e alla tinteggiatura. Grazie alla MSGP in vacanza dai nonni, abbiamo lavorato sodo per disboscare la giungla, e poi siamo passati alla casa. Leggi tutto
MDO ha inaugurato i lavori con la pulizia della cucina, il cui piano di lavoro e' stato poi pitturato per nascondere le macchie orrende di bruciato e ristagno d'acqua. Il piano terra e' stato pitturato di GIALLO per imitare i raggi di sole che sembrano non esserci mai (e per richiamare il colore delle vetrate). la MSGP ha deciso che la sua cameretta e' quella con il caminetto di graniglia, cosi' lo zio si e' messo all'opera (insieme a mamma e papa'). Last but not least, abbiamo distrutto il bagno, WW (Wonder Woman) e la sottoscritta. il MGP e il fratello sono stati a debita distanza, mentre noi due DONNE imbracciavamo il martello pneumatico per demolizioni. Che fatica. Che soddisfazione. Le frustrazioni tirosinasiche accumulate in anni di PhD finito nel nulla sono servite a qualcosa! Dovrei proprio mandare un biglietto di ringraziamenti a Testa D'Uovo: pronunciandone il nome, mi veniva una tal rabbia che nemmeno il muretto della doccia ha resistito allo schianto della mazza lunga.
Per finire: la vasca da bagno...oggi l'ho pulita, ed ho scoperto che si e' rovinata (grazie alla pittura colata dai pennelli messi in ammollo). Mi sa che la dovremo buttare, anche se il MGP mi ha fatto notare che vendono kit del miracolo. Mah...magari non e' poi cosi' male l'idea di convertirla in barchetta per canali.

GH jump-started our work by thoroughly cleaning the kitchen, which we then painted (also the countertop, which was beyond dirty and damaged by water stains and burns). Rooms on the ground floor are now YELLOW (to imitate sunshine, since we don't get much of that at these latitudes and, yes indeed, to try and match the stained glass windows). MFSJ decided her bedroom was the one with the faux-marble fireplace, so her uncle set to work. Last but not least, we knocked the bathroom down. "we" being WW (Wonder Woman) and I. MFJ and his brother felt safer downstairs painting, while us WOMEN got busy. We are the queens of jackhammering. Great workout, and great way to get rid of your frustrations. Personally, all my tyrosinasic frustrations accumulated in years of useless PhD attempts finally got me somewhere! I feel I ought to send and "thank you" card to EggHead: just the THOUGHT of him sitting at his oversized meeting table got me so angry that not even the shower wall could withstand my blows.
Finally: the bath tub! After a thorough clean, I realized that the paint (from the brushes and rolls in need of a good clean) damaged the enamel. I think it will have to go, although MFJ found the miracle kit. What can I say? Maybe the idea of converting it into canoe is not too far-fetched!
